Some 17 per cent of British children - 900,000 - are obese, so fat that their health is in danger.
Two years ago Government scientists said that without action, this figure would soar to 25 per cent by 2050.
Professor Pritchard-Jones said: 'Childhood is when the habits of a lifetime are established. If you want healthy adults you start by making healthy children.
Powerful statements, from the Daily Mail on line today.
As a parent you have a duty to ensure that you give your children the best start in life. I know I go on about this alot, but do you really want to see your children suffer as they get older because you really could not be bothered to encourage them to eat healthily? Is your microwave more important than your childs, and your own, health? Can you really not see the benefit of preparing fresh vegetables, in having fresh bowls of fruit around the house?
Consider this:-

Of course children want to eat ´burgers´and ´´chips´ but you are more than capable of working out a way to make healthy versions of these. Yes you have to make an effort but having children is a big, big job and you have only one opportunity to get it right. Lynn xx
